About Us

Who's writing this blog? We are! :) :) We're John and Kim Namestnik.

A little bit about us...

We've been happily married for 40 years (2014) and we are blessed to have six wonderful adult children - three by birth and three more through their marriage to our children. We have three precious grandsons, and four sweet peas of little granddaughters... so far! :) Each one of these loved ones are totally awesome!

Our family home schooled (graduating all three of our children from home), did Bible School at home, and vocational training through our home, while making our home in a lot of different places. Why mention this? Because being home based allowed us to have a simple and relatively quiet life in which to do a profuse number of studies in our Lord's Word. We are so grateful for this... and we don't want to forget the things we learned. That's why we regularly refresh ourselves with them.

We also want to refresh ourselves this particular season because we both have eye maladies that may one day take our vision. I (Kim) am already vision impaired and battle with continually fluctuating and deteriorating eyesight and John is newly diagnosed with something that may greatly impair his eyesight one day. We're telling you this because when (not if) there are a few lapses in posts on occasion, or you see some very interesting spelling, or you wonder why we intentionally throw good grammar and punctuation out the window (which, by the way, gives us freedom when we don't have to check for each little period - those buggers are hard to see these days LOL!), you'll know why now! :) Keeping to the 'pith' of things is part of the benefit of these Refreshings, anyway!

These are our beliefs...

Christianity Alone
Bible Alone
One God
Trinity
Complete Depravity of Man
Jesus the Savior
Salvation, a Gift and Work of God
Eternity For All

Now for a freckle more...

Christianity Alone: We firmly believe that true Christianity alone reveals to mankind all crucial things needing to be known about 1) how to be forgiven of the guilt of sin and be made right with God through what He's done and provided, 2) how to live increasingly holy lives that bring glory to God, 3) what lies ahead eternally for everyone. (Acts 2:38; Rm 10:9; 1 Pt 1:15)

Bible Alone: We firmly believe the Bible alone is God's Word to mankind. It is inspired (God breathed), complete, sufficient, efficient, living, active, performing its work in those who believe, renewing the mind and transforming lives. (1 Ths 2:13; 2 Tim 3:16; Heb 4:12)

One God: We firmly believe there has been, is, and only ever will be, one true and living God. (Is 43:10; 45:21; Jn 17:3; 1 Tim 2:5)

Trinity: We firmly believe the one true and living God is revealed as a trinity / tri-unity of three separate but equal and eternally existing Persons; God the Father, God the Son - Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. (Gen 1:26; Mt 3:16-17; Mk 1:9-11; Lk 3:21-22)

Complete Depravity of Man: We firmly believe mankind is totally depraved. We do not understand this to mean that everyone is as bad as they can be, but that all are completely dead in sin and therefore unable in and of themselves to please God or to effect any portion of their own salvation. All have sinned and this sin earns death (spiritual, physical, eternal). (Rm 3:10,23; Eph 2:1-7)

Jesus: We firmly believe Jesus is fully God, and fully man. He is the Savior, the Way - the Truth - the Life - and the Resurrection, and so much more. He is Immanuel - God with us, Who condescended to come to earth and be born of a virgin, being conceived of the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless and perfect life, then shed His blood on Calvary's cross, dying in our place to fully pay the penalty due for our sin. He was buried, and He resurrected bodily after 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb. He returned to heaven, but will one day soon return to gather His own to Himself, and to judge the world that has rejected Him. (Is 7:14; Mt 1:20,23; Jn 14:6; Acts 1:11; Rm 10:9; 2 Cor 5:21; Col 2:9; Heb 4:15)

Salvation: We firmly believe salvation is by grace through faith, a gift of God. It is not a work of man. It is initiated, sustained, and completed by God alone. Salvation allows us to have a right relationship with God, having been reconciled to Him through Jesus and His atoning work. Those made alive in the spirit (born again) are enabled (and, indeed, are responsible) to believe on and trust in Jesus' finished work on Calvary's cross, and will enjoy all the benefits of being God's child, being conformed to Christ's image, and spending all of eternity with Him. (Jn 3:3, 14:6; Acts 4:12, 20:28; Rm 5:6, 6:23b; 1 Cor 15:3-4; 2 Cor 5:21; Eph 1:4,7, 2:8-9; 1 Ths 5:9-10)

Eternity For All: We firmly believe those saved by God's grace will have ETERNAL LIFE spent in His presence. We firmly believe those not saved will have ETERNAL PUNISHMENT in hell. (Mt 25:31-46; Jn 6:47; Rev 21:1-7; 2 Ths 1:9; Jude 15; Rev 21:8)
